ABOUT US

Established in 2017, Shikhar: The Mountaineering Club of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College is aimed at promoting mountaineering, adventure, skill development and environmental awareness among the students. Through a variety of opportunities, the club encourages students to explore outdoors, develop technical mountaineering skills and cultivate qualities such as teamwork, leadership and perseverance in the face of adversities.

The club regularly organizes activities designed to enhance both practical skills and outdoor awareness of its members. These include, wall climbing and bouldering sessions, nature walks, equipment demonstrations, and other adventure-based initiatives that provide hands-on exposure to mountaineering and trekking practices. In addition to this, the club has conducted various treks and trips to places including Kedarnath, Brahmtal , Chopta-Chandrashila and Rishikesh to name a few. Through these experiences, members develop physical endurance, problem-solving abilities, confidence, and collaborative skills while engaging with the broader culture of adventure sports.

Expanding learning beyond indoor training, the society organised a Nature Walk at Sanjay Van. The event combined environmental exploration with practical outdoor training, where members participated in activities, games, equipment demonstrations, and a tent-pitching exercise, gaining hands-on exposure to trekking essentials and outdoor practices. The walk encouraged appreciation of nature while reinforcing practical mountaineering skills. Throughout the year, Shikhar remained committed to cultivating adventure and environmental consciousness among students. The society’s activities enhanced physical endurance, technical skills, collaboration, and leadership among its members. With a successful year of learning and exploration behind it, Shikhar looks forward to expanding its activities and inspiring more students to embrace adventure and the mountains in the coming session.
