Rangayan, the Dramatics Society of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, has consistently upheld a rich tradition of theatrical excellence and artistic expression. Founded in 2003, the society has established itself as one of the most vibrant and dynamic cultural platforms of the college, with renowned alumni such as Raj Kumar Rao, creating socially relevant and thought-provoking performances that engage audiences while nurturing creativity, confidence, and collective spirit among students. Through theatre, Rangayan seeks not only to entertain but also to inspire dialogue on contemporary socio-political issues and human experiences.

The society has recurrently provided students with a structured platform to explore the various dimensions of performing arts and to develop their artistic abilities through training, workshops, productions, and competitive participation. Alumni, theatre practitioners, and experienced mentors have consistently contributed towards strengthening the artistic legacy of the society.

Through interactive sessions and introductory workshops, students are acquainted with theatre practices including voice modulation, physical conditioning, spatial awareness, stagecraft, script analysis, and performance techniques. Annual auditions further provide aspiring performers with an opportunity to become part of the society through a comprehensive evaluation process involving monologues, improvisation, stage presence, and creative adaptability.

Rangayan also promotes experimentation and collaborative learning through initiatives such as “Rang Umang,” an intra-college performance platform that encourages young members to participate in skits, improvisational performances, and creative presentations. Such activities provide emerging artists with practical stage experience while strengthening the collective spirit of the society.

One of the major highlights of the society’s annual production is the Rangsheersh Jaidev Theatre Festival (RJTF), a significant theatrical event organized in honour of Dr. Jaidev Taneja, the founding inspiration behind the society. The festival serves as a platform for intensive theatrical engagement through workshops, productions, and inter-college participation. The recent edition featured productions such as Andhayug, directed by Mr. Ravi Taneja; Ghera, directed by Mr. Anil Ranjan; and Jaat Hi Poocho Saadhu Ki, directed by Mr. Vashisht Upadhyay. The festival also included an Inter-College Street Play Competition, promoting cultural exchange and encouraging young theatre practitioners.

With its enduring commitment towards artistic growth and meaningful expression, Rangayan continues to carry forward its legacy of theatre, creativity, and social consciousness, inspiring students to find their voice both on and beyond the stage.
