The Department of History at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, University of Delhi, is one of the college's most vibrant academic hubs. Although History has the distinction of being one of the first courses to start in this college in 1959, it was initially offered as the B.A. Pass Course. However, in the wake of growing demand for this discipline in 1969, it was introduced as the Honours course. Ever since, by virtue of a stellar faculty's endeavour and the matching enthusiasm of its students, this department has emerged as one of the best undergraduate History departments of Delhi University.
The Department has its own associated renowned society known as DĀSTĀN, that emphasises experiential learning, moving beyond the classroom to engage students with the tangible aspects of history. It is responsible for organizing all major academic and extra-curricular activities, consisting of seminars, field trips, alumni meets, talk sessions and competitions. Major events include Clio Calling, Muzākrā, Musābikā and Tasveer Mania.
