Shibani Phukan, MPhil from the University of Delhi, has worked at ARSD College as an Assistant Professor since 2005. She has taught a range of papers to under-graduate students, ranging from Women's Writing, Litersry Theory, Modern European Drama, Indian Writing in English, Modern Drama, among other papers. She tutors the MA students in post colonial Indian Literature and Gender. Her area of specialisation is Literature from the North-easy. She has a number of published works to her credit in Indian as well as international journals like "Wasafiri." She has presented papers in UGC sponsored National Conferences, and written chapters for books published by national and international publishing houses which ar used as reference texts for the undergraduate English Syllabi. She has actively contributed to the corporate life of the college in various capacities such as being the Convenor or Member of societies like the English Association, English Seminar, North-east Welfare Committee, Women's Development Centre and, has served as the English Editor of the college magazine. At present, she is the Convenors of the Women Development Cell of the college. Shibani Phukan worked as a journalist with the India Today group and is a trained classical vocalist. Her book reviews can be found at Livewire. She loves travelling and photographing flowers, birds and skies.
