Broad research areas:
  • Material Chemistry, Hybrid materials, Organometallic Complexes, Bioinorganic Chemistry.
  • Use of sol-gel technique for the synthesis of ceramic and hybrid materials. Processes and techniques. Analysis of hybrids and composites.
  • Synthesis and Chemistry of Material Chemistry/ Organometallic compounds of main group metals using different N-, S-, O- containing donor ligands like bioactive Schiff bases, thiohydrazides and thiohydrazones. Studies of their physico-chemical properties are conducted using mass, NMR (1H, 13C, Sn), IR, UV and elemental studies and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The important aspects of the work are:  Thermal studies (TGA/DSC) Calculation of various kinetic and thermodynamic parameters like activation energy (Ea), order of reaction (n), apparent activation entropy (S#) and heat of reaction (∆H) etc, Biological activity (anti-fungal, bacterial)  Inhibitory action for controlling Corrosion Anti-corrosion behavior testing against mild steel and nickel using potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods (Tafel curve studies, passivity) and their percentage efficiency etc.
  • Synthesis of Newly Designed Macrocyclic Ligands & their Transition Metal Complexes. Characterization & investigation of their structure by elemental analysis, magnetic moments, IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR and electronic spectral studies with Solution Behavior and Biological Studies..
  • Experience as Patent Consultant: Patent Opposition, Prosecution, Patent Search, Drafting, Filing (US, WIPO, INDIA), Patent analysis, Infringement analysis, IP mapping, Patent mining, Technology tracking, Claim analysis, Delphion, MicroPat, PatWeb, USPTO, SciFinder, STN Analysis, Esp@cenet, Dialog, World Intellectual Property Search (WIPO), Ekaswa–A, Indian Patents.
