Activities Of The Session 2019-2020
The Cultural Society of ARSD College began its journey in the academic year 2019-2020 with auditions for the different groups of the Cultural Society. Following were the activities undertaken by the Society during this academic session:
Teachers’ Day: Teachers’ day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers and to acknowledge their special contributions. To honor the teachers, 5 September 2019 was celebrated through performances by “Kalashree” the Indian Dance group, “Saarang”, the music group and “Outbreaks”, the Western dance group members.
Orientation Day: The orientation programme was designed to motivate new students of the Society. Vidhushi Sumitra Guha, Padma Shree Awardee graced the occasion and encouraged the freshers on 2nd Sept 2019.
Bookfair: Kalashree, Sarang and Outbreaks performed at the Book fair, Pragati Maidan on 15 Sept 2019.
Spic Macay: Spic Macay (SRF Virasat Series) was organized for spreading Indian Culture where Vidhushi Uma Garg graced the occasion by performing Hindustani Vocal Recital. It was held on 20 Sept 2019.
Aarambh: Cultural Society in collaboration with the Student Union presented Aarambh 2020 – The Official Freshers of ARSD College on 15 October 2019. Prof. Subhash Garg, Hon’ble minister, Technical Education, Govt of Rajasthan graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Awaaz: To identify the talent in the music group, The Cultural Society organized an Intra college solo singing competition – Awaaz on 17 October 2019.
TIDE: Annual Cultural Inter College Festival (TIDE -2020): The most anticipated event of the year, TIDE -2020, a three-day event was held in the last week of February 2020. This mega event was organized and managed diligently. The opening ceremony was vibrant and splendid. There were various performances like classical dance, group singing, etc., in the opening ceremony. After this successful launching, different competitions, e.g., semi-classical solo singing, classical dance, folk dance, western solo singing, group singing, street dance, western dance group, battle of bands, showstopper, etc., commenced. EDM- Hanna Shine, Band- “Band of Boom Boom” and singer Akhil Sachdeva were the main attraction. The organising committee, cultural society and student union were felicitated with batches and trophies. The mega event concluded with the hope that it will be organized again in the next year and students will get a chance to display their talents.
Activities Of The Session 2017-2018
The cultural society of the college provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to participate in a variety of cultural activities spread throughout the year. It not only weaves the members of the society with other institutions by means of diverse activities, but also enhances the humanistic values.

Patriotic Song Competition: To celebrate the “Azaadi Ke Sattar Saal” as a part of the Independence Day Celebration, the Cultural Society conducted an intra-college Patriotic Song Competition on 14 August 2017. Three different prizes were given to the first three position holders.

Quit India Movement & 70th year of India’s Independence Celebration: Since the year 2017 marks the 75th year of the Quit India Movement and the 70th year of India’s Independence, it is a landmark year. To commemorate these events, the Cultural Society in association with the History Department held a talk by an eminent educationist, an extempore contest, and a guided tour of the students to the places related to the freedom struggle between 9 to 30 August 2017.
Orientation Day: The orientation programme was designed to motivate new students of the Society. During this programme, Ms Sindhu Bhagia Mishra, Secretary, Sindhi Academy, Government of NCT, Delhi graced the occasion and inspired the freshers to reach great heights. It held on 30 August 2017.
Inter-college Debate Competition: An Inter-college debate competition, Udgosh, was organized by the Hindi Debating Society, Vedanta, in collaboration with the Cultural Society and was held on 28 September 2017.
Intra-college Dance Competition: The Dance group of Classical & Folk, Kalashree, came into existence in August 2017. An intra-college dance competition was held in the last week of September 2017. Meetanjali Bageshwar, a renowned Kathak dancer of the Jaipur Gharana, judged the event. Along with the competition, the members of the Society gave mesmerizing performances to make the event successful.
Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2017: Central Vigilance Commission endeavors to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life. With this vision, Vigilance Awareness Week was observed from 30 October to 4 November 2017 with the theme “My Vision—Corruption Free India.” In this, the following activities were undertaken:
- Integrity Pledge by the Principal on behalf of the College
- Invited talk by Dr Arvind Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Heavy Industries, Government of India
- Invited talk by Mr. Anand Pratap Singh, Inspector General-Vigilance and Resident Commissioner of Himachal Pradesh
- Essay Competition organized in collaboration with Air India
- Debate Competition in collaboration with Syndicate Bank
- Poster making competition
Intra-college Singing Competition (Awaaz): To identify the talent in the music group, an intra-college singing competition was organized in the second week of January 2018.
Annual Cultural Inter College Festival (TIDE -2018): TIDE -2018 which is a three-day event was held in the last week of February 2018. This mega event was organized and managed diligently. The opening ceremony was very colorful and memorable. There were various performances like Nepali dance, folk dance, etc., in the opening ceremony. After this successful opening, different competitions were opened. EDM-You Know Me, Band-Sufi Rock N Raga and singers: A. J. Singh, Deep Karan and Bollywood performer Swati Sharma were the main attraction. Shri Manoj Tiwari, Hon’able Member of Parliament, graced the occasion with his presence. His extempore abilities make him remarkable. His unscripted poem for the college won the hearts of the audience. He praised the entire event and raised the morale of the students with his inspirational words. He also felicitated the organizing committee, the Students’ Union and members of the Cultural society.
The mega event concluded with the hope that it will be organized again in next year and students will get a chance to display their talents. .
